The paintings on this page are the result of an improvisational method I use to compose much of my current artwork. It starts with a simple shape or idea. Working initially on the computer I can record the image’s evolution as I play with compositional choices. From this particular process the conclusion was Fig 67. I decided to formally hand paint it, and five preceding images that represent steps along the way. Although each painting stands alone on its own merits, the overall process offers a larger perspective - one with exciting possibilities that I hope adds contextual value to a viewer’s experience of each individual piece.
